It’s time to showcase the February Writing Prompts set. Writing prompts are definitely a customer favorite in our store, and it is so fun to be able to share them with you. I often have my 10 and 12-year-old brainstorming with me to come up with our favorite writing ideas.
This month the writing prompts cover topics from magical adventures to the every day breakfast table decisions. There are some fun topics in there for President’s day, as well as imagining their future inventions.
The narrative prompts this month have the children imagining what it might be like to live in the white house. If that isn’t fantastic enough, they get to describe their adventures with their pet dragon. After all that excitement, they get to describe their first trip to the dentist, and what happened there.
I love the informative prompts this month. The children get to tell how they would build the perfect fort. It could be a blanket fort, a snow fort, or a tree house fort. Whatever it is, they’re sure to have a suggested construction process. Then the children get to describe their best friend. What a great thing to do during Valentine’s month! Finally, we bring in a bit of social science, asking the kids to tell what the president does. This could launch a great discussion as well as learning what the kids already know about their government.
The opinion prompts for February are fun as well. Every child has a favorite cereal, and here they get to defend why it is the best. Next, they get to decide what the best invention ever is? Was it the light bulb, the car, the Nintendo Wii?? 🙂 They’re entitled to their opinion, and we want to hear it. The last opinion writing topic is What is be best Amusement park ride? I’m going with roller coasters, but it will be fun to hear what they have to say.
Of course there are matching draft pages to go with each writing prompt organizer, so they can work on first and final drafts.
