July Morning Tubs

Do you need July Math and Literacy Centers? Morning tubs are often used as students are coming in and settling in for the day. They engage kids while attendance is being taken, homework folders are being opened and checked, and those types of daily tasks. Math and Literacy Centers are great for a couple of reasons.

1. Building Independence: Kids are able to work on their own or in small groups at their table to use their bin(s). It encourages them to self-start and learn/play on their own.
2. Socialization: Math and Literacy Centers give kids a chance to work together in small groups. They get to share pieces, solve problems together, and even just talk, play, and learn for a few minutes with a couple of their tablemates.
3. Creativity and Play: Creativity is something we can build and increase by spending time working on it. Math and Literacy Centers are a perfect way to introduce a little more play and freedom into learning rather than traditional worksheets or morning work that kept kids busy but did not encourage creativity and play.

Firework Patterns

Copy the patterns using a dot marker or stickers. This activity is great for fine motor practice.

Pipe Cleaner Shapes

Use pipe cleaners or craft sticks to build shapes. Copy the color patterns or make your own.

Craft Stick Patterns

Practice following visual instructions to rebuild the patterns using colored craft sticks.

Alphabet Punch

Get your scissor and fine motor practice while working on letter recognition. We used a star hole punch or you can use a regular one.

Alphabet Patterns

Copy the alphabet pattern using stamps, stickers, or plastic letters. You can also try making your own patterns.

Thermometer Counting

Use playdough to show the temperature. This is such a fun, sensory, counting activity.

Alphabet Cards

Practice making the letters using playdough and then hunt for the letters in the alphabet search.

Pool Float Counting

Count the pool floaties into the pool We used circle cereal for a fun snacktivity.

Color Threading

Dye noodles or cut drinking straws for this fun color matching activity. We used playdough to hold our pipe cleaner or you could use a hole punch.

Ice Cream Color Patterns

Get all the fun of building and ice cream cone in this fun clip to build color patterns activity. Work on grip strength, colors, and patterns at the same time.
