Summer break is wrapping up, and I am so excited to share these fun Back to School Writing Prompts. August is such transition time coming off of the grand adventures of summer to begin a new grade in a new classroom with so many new potential friends. These back to school writing prompts focus on these ideas, bringing out stories from the summer as well as describing new surroundings, new people, and strategies for a great year.

There are some fun fictional themes here as well, helping the kids open up those imaginations and putting that down on paper. The writing prompts each come on an organizer created to help the children build a story. They also come with draft pages, so that the story can be transferred from organized ideas to a great piece of writing. The writing prompt organizers all come in black and white, so children who finish early can color the pictures.

These writing prompts are created specifically for the back to school season, but many of them can be used throughout the year. There are 18 prompts, 6 opinion, 6 narrative, and 6 informative.
