This unit lays the groundwork for emotional intelligence, guiding children through a five-week exploration of their emotions:

1:  Calming Our Bodies and Minds: explore multiple breathing exercies and mindfullness coloring pages.

2: Taming Our Anger Monster: Discuss Anger,  Anger Thermometer, Anger Action Plan, Cool Down Technique Card, Anger Traffic Light Game, Small and large group activities,  Setting up a calm down kit.

3: Reaching For The Stars: Our First Goals: My Goal Stars, Goal Steps Ladder, Goal Getter Badges, I Can Do It Storybook creation.

4: The Patience Garden: Growing Our Waiting Skills: Discuss what paitence is, Patience Flower Craft,  Role Play Scenarious, Reflections.

5: Super Focus Powers: Training Our Attention: Group discussion on what Focus is. Superhero printable activitiy, Bell Listening Game, Focus Strategy Cards, Superhero Obstacle Course, Reflection.

Inside each weekly lesson you will find:

• Greeting & Warm Up: Welcome the new SEL lesson, review previous lessons, and share goal for new lesson.
• 4 different activities: Includes reading books, using different printables, journals, games, and more.
• Conclusion & Wrap Up: Summarize the different activities practiced and the emotions learned.
• Assessment: Observe students’ participation and engagement during activities.
• Extensions for Home Connection and Follow Up Activities:  Send a note home with a brief summary of the lesson and suggestions for parents to continue the topic covered.
