Top Book List for a 3-Year-Old Boy

Booklist of a 3 Year Old BoyMy floor is littered with picture books, I know more about dinosaurs than ever before, and my living room is occasionally rearranged to be a pirate ship.  What happened?!  Well, my son is discovering the written word.

My older daughters regularly beg to visit the library so they can peruse the shelves looking for mysteries, comedies, and covers with lots of pink, but my 3-year-old son just recently discovered a love for books as well.  I’m going to be honest, it’s nice to be able to read something other than Pinkalicious on occasion.  Well, it was fun, the first 3 times we read Alphabet Rescue.  Now that we read it multiple times a day, it’s all I can do not to hide the book.  PLEASE, don’t make me read it again, but then I do, because I love him, and he loves his favorite book.

Today I thought I’d share our favorite book list for a 3-Year-Old boy, so you can join the repetitive reading club of moms raising a reading son.

  1. What a great list! Froggy getss dressed was one of sour favorites as well! You forgot your underwear!! All of my kids in stitches! We also loved Frog and Toad!

  2. I need to find the I speak Dinosaur. I bet my 1 year-old would like that. Currently, his favorite is Honk Honk Beep Beep. He makes car noises when I read it. LOL. It’s fun getting to read the
boy books. After having three girls, it’s a nice change. 🙂

    1. Absolutely! The I Speak Dinosaur is about learning to use the right volume of voice and polite words. It’s pretty cute, and he loves it. I haven’t tried Honk Honk Beep Beep. It’s on my next library trip list.

  3. I love any Seuss book. If you have to read things over and over, at least his are fun to read. I can’t stand those “If you give a whatever and whatever” books though.

  4. I love this list! My boys are 6 and 10 and still love The Giving Tree and Green Eggs and Ham. Froggy and his silly adventures are also a favorite around here 🙂 Pinned

  5. Green Eggs and Ham and If You Give a Moose a Muffin were very popular when I had a smaller one. Looking forward to reading them again with my baby. Have you read Dino Trucks?

  6. I am so glad you are encouraging your son to read as well. For some reason, many people read to their daughters but not their sons! Great book list. When he is ready for a chapter a day, try The Mouse and The Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. I also second Kim’s suggestion of the Frog and Toad series.

    1. Thank you for the suggestions. I love it!! I know what I like for my girls, but my 3-year-old is my first and only boy. I’m still figuring out what books to add to his favorites list.
