VALENTINE ACTIVITIES FOR PRESCHOOL
You will probably need a wide variety of Valentine activities for your preschool lesson planning. We’ve included activities ranging from alphabet and counting to patterns, sensory, and more. Check them out below.
Valentine Math Activities for Preschool
Anytime we are teaching early math we need to cover different parts of number sense. In the following math activities, you’ll find counting, subitizing, games, and more to teach number sense during your preschool Snowman theme.
Roll, Count and Spin Hearts
This pre-clock activity is fun counting and addition practice for preschoolers and kindergartners. You can let each child make their own, or have a few put together in a center. You’ll need brads and paper plates to go with the printable.
Musical Chairs Heart Counting
This twist on Musical Chairs (or the Cupcake Walk) is a huge hit with the kids. They walk around the table while music plays. When the music stops, you have to:
- Find the nearest penguin, and
- Count the correct number of hearts onto his tummy.
We love these plastic hearts, but candy hearts or other manipulatives work as well.
Sensory Heart Counting Sticks
Children love the touch and feel aspect of this counting activity. Just add Craft Sticks, Velcro Dots, and Candy Hearts.
Repurpose your candy boxes for this roll and count game.
Heart 10 Frames
Practice counting with these adorable 10 frames. Use any candy or heart counters.
Make and Trace Numbers
Love this hands on sensory filled activity for practicing number recognition. Use playdough or fill each number with the correct amount of small manipulatives.
Roll & Fill Counting
Games are a perfect activity to sneak in math skills. This one is quick and easy to set up too!
Valentine Literacy Activities for Preschool
In preschool, we work on a range of literacy skills depending on where our kiddos are at. These Valentine themed centers explore alphabet letters, letter formation, name practice, and more to use in your Snowman preschool theme.
Love Bug Name Spelling Crowns
Valentine Love Bug Crowns are too adorable and so much fun to make. We love ours to be a bit educational, adding our names in the front. It gives kids cutting practice to cut out their hearts and name spelling practice to glue their hearts in order.
Match and Clip Hearts
Work on hand strength while counting and matching upper and lowercase letters and numbers. You can find the clothespins here.
Valentine Sight Words Practice
These beginning sight words are on the back of cute penguin valentines. You can trace and write the words with a dry erase marker.
Alphabet Heart Bingo
Bingo is always a crowd pleaser. This one is in black and white, so you can print it on white or colored paper. You could use stickers, these plastic hearts or even candy hearts as your bingo markers.
Heart Alphabet Puzzles
Fix the broken heart by matching the upper and lowercase letters to complete the heart puzzle.
Sensory Letter Writing
Sensory activities are one of the best ways to practice early letter formation. We used salt in a heart pan we grabbed at the dollar store!
Valentine Shapes, Games, and Craft Activities for Preschool
Go beyond math and literacy activities with shapes, games and fun Valentine crafts.
Who Am I – Clue and Guess Game
We LOVE this interactive guessing game. Children have to attach a letter, number, or color heart to the front of their hats – without PEEKING! Then they walk around and ask the other children for clues. For example: It’s the first sound in apple. It’s the color of the sky…etc.
Things I Love Book
A fun way to draw and create the things you love and enjoy in a special keepsake book.
Using playdough to create shapes is a fun way to add sensory into your play!
In addition to these fantastic Valentine Activities for Preschool, we also have 14 no-prep, print and go worksheets. They’re all designed in black and white to save you ink, and… the kids get to color all of the pictures themselves. BONUS!!
These fun extra practice worksheets include tracing, cut and paste, and other great preschool skills.
Valentine Math Worksheets
These Valentine worksheets cover a variety of early math skills. Teach kids number order, counting, and number recognition with these fun math printables.
Valentine Literacy Worksheets
We are constantly working on early literacy in preschool. These Valentine literacy worksheets allow you to differentiate between a variety of learning levels. Younger preschoolers and pre-writers can start with the sorting whereas more advanced learners can work on letter sounds and letter tracing.
More Valentine’s Worksheets for Preschool
Some of the most important skills preschoolers learn are not math and literacy. With these Valentine worksheets they can also practice fine motor skills, tracing and scissor skills.
