I completed these CVC Words Worksheets for Kindergarten this week, and I’m giving you all the first sneak peek. These worksheets are ideal for children who are just learning to decode and read CVC words. They are are great reading practice, but they should be a lot of fun as well.
There are 8 types of worksheets in this set, with 5 pages of each worksheet style. The goal is to help children play with and used CVC words in a variety of ways. Over the course of this set they will get to:
Read the Words,
Create their own CVC Words,
Switch the Vowel,
Find the Letters and Spell CVC Words, and
Write the Words.

Flying for CVC Words – 5 pgs
In these pages, the children are given a beginning and ending consonant. They get choose a vowel that will complete the word, and write it in the middle cloud.
Under The Sea CVC Words – 5 pgs
In these worksheets, the children are given a beginning and ending consonant. They get to choose a vowel that will complete the word, and write it in the middle bubble. Then, they get to write their new word on the line.
Froggy School CVC Words – 5 pgs
In these worksheets, Frog shows the children pictures. The children say that word, sound it out, and then fill in the blank lily pads to complete the CVC word.
Dinosaur Eggs Mix Up – 5 pgs
Mommy dinosaur’s eggs are out of order. The children must figure out which order the 3 letters go in to make a word. Then they write the letters in the eggs.
CVC Word Find and Write – 5 pgs
The children are given the picture of a CVC word, and a letter box. They must find and circle the letters that go in that word in the letter box. Then they can write the word on the line.
Popping Popcorn CVC Words – 5 pgs
The children are given a CVC word to read. They must find and color the letters for that word in the spilled popcorn.
Raining CVC Words – 5 pgs
For these pages the children will read the word written in the umbrella. Then they must switch out the vowel to create a new word in the raindrops. Then they can write their new word on the line.
The CVC Word Train – 5 pgs
In these worksheets, the children are given a word to read on the train engine. The train cars carry the first and last letter of the word, but they must switch out the vowel to make a new word.
All of the worksheets include fun pictures that the children can color either while they are working their way through the activity or when they are finished. They are all ready to be printed, copied and passed out to the class to save you time.
