Preschool Farm Activities
Farm is the perfect preschool theme for spring with baby animals and garden planting. You can also teach it in the fall during harvest. Either way, you will love how simple your lesson planning is with these fun center activities, dramatic play ideas, and worksheets.
Preschool Farm Crafts
Make farm week a blast with these fun preschool farm crafts. The pool noodle pretend-play farm is always a huge hit and every kid loves making their paper grocery bag farm hat.
Preschool Garden Craft – Pretend Play
My kiddos can’t stop playing with these pretend play gardens that we made with pool noodles and burlap. You can use food toys, or I included printable food in the set.
Farm Fence Patterns Craft
Patterns are an important preschool skill. For this activity, children get to copy fence patterns with colored craft sticks. They can also practice continuing the pattern and then making some of their own.
Paper Bag Farmer Hat Craft
We had the best time making these paper bag farmer hats. They are super simple to make.
- Flip a paper grocery bag inside out.
- Roll up the edges and shape the hat.
- Print, color, and glue on the Farmer Badge from this set.
- You can also add a ribbon if you’d like.
MacDonald’s Farm Animal Puppets
I love this fun twist on the Old MacDonald song. In our version, he has a barn, and we’re counting finger puppet animals into it.
Farm Animals Preschool Activities – Math
Make sure to bring farm animal toys to your farm unit. Kids LOVE to play with farm animals and it makes learning more engaging and more effective because of the hands-on counting as well as the storytelling that naturally happens as kids play.
Pigs in the Mud Counting
Kids LOVE mud. It’s just their thing, and this gives them a little chance to play in it. You can have a bin of actual mud with a cleaning station, or turn some brown playdough into your mud puddle.
Count and Corral Farm Animals
I build the craft stick fence pieces for this activity beforehand. The children got to add playdough to the base and build their own counting corrals. So fun!!
Picking Corn Garden Counting
Pick the corn in this fun farm math activity. You can use actual corn kernels for some fun sensory play or popcorn for a preschool snacktivity.
Peas in the Pod Counting
Here’s another activity where you could use actual peas and snack on them afterward or use something sensory like playdough.
Preschool Garden Counting Activities
We loved this seed counting activity for our preschool farm theme. You can choose the actual seeds of the listed plants if you’d like. I opted for pumpkin seeds because they are large and easy for small hands to handle.
Picking Berries Farm Counting
We used pom poms for this activity, but alternately you could use actual berries and use them for healthy snacktime after math time is over.
Farm Preschool Literacy Activities
We are constantly working on literacy in preschool. These activities combine the fun of the farm with letters and sight words as we play with sheep, tractors, barns, and more.
Letter Sheep Find & Cover Game
Toy letters turn this sheep-themed letter hunt into a fun find game. We used cotton balls as our markers.
Tractor Tire Letter Match
This activity works well as a file folder game or you can simply place magnetic letters over the tire if you want to simplify.
Barn Sight Words
For kids that are starting to write, this is an amazing writing center. They can trace their sight words and then try writing it on their own.
Farm Letter Sensory Bin
Sensory bins are a must in preschool and for farm week we like to use corn. For this bin, we hid our letters in the corn and used hands or toy tools to dig and rake them out.
Farm Egg Color Sorting Activity
Color matching is a great way to use those leftover Easter eggs. We made our hen’s nest out of a planter from the dollar store and leftover Easter grass.
Farm Animals Preschool Writing Center
Place these vocabulary strips up in your writing center. Let kids pull out a pencil or crayon and a sheet of paper on a clipboard to practice writing out the farm words.
Farm Worksheets Preschool
In addition to the hands-on math centers above, we also created 15 fun preschool farm worksheets for you. These worksheets include tracing, cut and paste, sorting, and more.
Farm Animals Worksheets for Preschool
These worksheets are designed to help kids work on basic preschool skills like tracing, sorting, and even measurement while playing with cute farm animals.

Unfortunately, these games can not be downloaded in Austria.
I don´t really get why. Never had the problem on any other website.
I would appreciate, if you can fix this issue.
Hi Michelle,
We are not set up on our site to properly collect taxes in Austria, which is why you can’t purchase directly from our site.
You can grab the Farm theme from our store on Teachers Pay Teachers. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Farm-Theme-3743132
