The Weather Science Activities are so much fun for preschool kiddos to learn about the weather. Packed with a variety of hands-on experiments, giving children the ability to develop a range of science skills, including classifying, sorting, making predictions, and more. Through these engaging activities, young learners not only explore and discover but also take a step towards nurturing future scientists.
Why is teaching science important for Preschool…
First, learning to classify, sort, observe, and make predictions is part of everyday life.
Next, Science is all around us from mixing paint colors, cooking, or playing outside. You can incorporate science into everyday fun.
And last, skills learned through experiments and exploration are cumulative so your child will continue to build on what they know and learn.

Summer Science Experiments For Kids
What Will Melt In the Sun?
We love this easy science expermiment to make predictions about what will happen with different objects in the sun, then observe and record the results to learn how the sun’s heat affects different materials.
Shadow Creations
Take this experiment outside and incorporate movement while you explore light and reflections And bonus, this activity requires NO set up!
Ramp it Up
Ice Chalk…with a Surprise
In the ramp experiment with friction, children will build a ramp using a piece of cardboard or a wooden board. They will then cover sections of the ramp with different materials like sandpaper, felt, and plastic. By rolling toy cars or balls down each section, they can observe how the different surfaces affect the speed and distance the objects travel, lwhile learning how friction slows things down.
Super fun activity to take outside on a warm day and learn about chemical reactions with baking soda and vinegar. Kids will get a kick out of the surprise!
Ice Cream in a Bag
Learn how salt and movement work together with the right ingrediants to create a yummy treat!
What Melts Ice
In the “what melts ice” experiment, preschoolers will place several ice cubes on a tray and sprinkle different substances like salt, sugar, sand, and warm water on each one. They’ll observe and compare which substances cause the ice to melt the fastest, learning about how different materials affect the melting process.
Sink Your Boat
Practice higher thinking skills while learning about buoyancy as you build boats with simple items.
Sock Bubbles
This STEM experiment helps teach young learners about bubbles. They’ll observe, make predictions, and problem solve!
Soda Explosion
Always a favorite! Add some variation by using different amounts of soda and different types of candy while observing the chemical reactions.
Sticky Ice
Learn about freezing points, cause and effect, and work on problem solving while creating your sticky ice.
